In GlyphsApp, it is even simpler: just write "Name: Your feature name" in the lower right section of the font info window. (But it also works the other way)2 -

I’d try to use contextual alternates so that it’s not like some letters are always "down" and others always "up", but to get a nice alternating pattern. E.g. now the word "fr…3
